Like the fact that instead of me working alone to make these books/mangas my friend and I are putting our books together to make one awesome series! Of course our books are going to be by themselves at first but slowly our main characters will meet and they will be joined in one book as their adventures together begin. This though is only for one of my future books called Special. The other book called Tohru Kokoro will be all mine because that one is based off a dream that I had and that one I have been working on since I was like in 7th grade! I know that my books are going to be good, but my trur dream is for it to become an anime and then maybe, just maybe a live action film. I know that the author doesn't get much from that but I still think it would be sooo cool to see your work being played out right before your eyes.

Anime is still a big deal in my life and without it I truely don't know where I would be. I guess I should really be thanking my brother for bringing me into this world. I doubt he realized how much of an effect anime would have on me when I was a kid. Actually I don't even think I even knew myself, but Im glad it happened. I know that when I grow up and have kids I am going to have them into anime and have them dress up as characters too! I also want a large room like a library full of just manga! Maybe with my books I will become rich enough to have that! hehe!

Over all I think my Manifesto is spot on and a hunderd percent correct! I will one day become a famous writer and have a manga/novel out that everyone will want to read. Like the famous Harry Potter book, but way better than Twilight! hahah! GO VAMPIRES!

Critique 4

The Project that caught my eye the most was the one that was like a story where you can choose your own destiny. I use to love reading those books as a kid and never really thought that they could be done on the computer or at least be as good as the book form. The one thing I liked a lot about this project is that they added famous people in it which kind of gave you a comic relief feel.
As I went through the story, dying most of the time, I found myself not as interested in the story but really just in seeing if I would live. Each choice seemed to be really short paragraphs that really didn’t give much info on what was going on and/or on what everything around them looked like. It was sometimes hard for me to imagine completely or get myself into the story. I know that it was meant to random and out of the blue, but maybe it was too random in the way it didn’t make much since.
Overall I would change the length of the stories so there is more interest in the story then just guessing which button to choose. Also what I would like to see is more characters and since they went with the famous people I would like to see more of them. It would make it fun and exciting to have to choose between two famous actors or rock stars.

critique 3

When I was going through the live journals I noticed a journal called the F#%$ you list. It was a list of people ranting about something or someone that pissed them off. It was very interesting reading them and all were very bold. Most of them started with the statement, “F*@# you!, “ at the beginning of every statement. Even though this page was very vulgar and blunt it had its own kind of personality that gave it life. I couldn’t help but laugh or agree with some of the statements. It really showed the personality of the writer and showed how much they believed in something.

The way that it took advantage of the digital aspect is the fact that it wasn’t just one paper under another of rants. It was like a bulletin that had an explosion of personality when you opened it. I one that actually framed the work so that it popped out more in certain parts and made it seem like they were actually yelling right in front of you. They were all well written beside the fact that they were all cussing like sailors through most of it.

To say that I would ever post my feelings about someone or something on a journal like this I don’t know. I would be too scared that the person who I am talking about would read it and get offended. But I do like the idea of it and the way it probably helps a lot of people in relieving their stress and their issues that they are having in their lives. I might have the guts to do it one day, but that would be a day that is not anytime soon.

MY group

Natasha and I are working together on the group project. When he explained it I didn’t realize how much work and how many pictures he had used to make this. The drawing of the dragon actually reminded me of Puter that I and my father collect. I actually thought it was until he showed that it was a drawing that he put upon a ball. The ball was actually really well done and blended excellently.
The fingers in the picture, I don’t believe was truly necessary. I understood that he didn’t want the item just floating there but it could work without it. Especially since he had words that surrounded the picture and in a way it frames it. Also I might have darkened the Dragon just a bit so that it would look better on the globe.
The parts that I would totally take as an idea from his piece is the way he made the blended the pictures that he put into the globe. I also like the fact that you can’t tell how many pictures he had used either. The fact that he layered them and then made them look like one picture in the globe is what makes me like it even more. I would also like to learn how to darken things like he did with the dragon.

Remix Project

Remix Project

My webcite is just not wanting to work for me.

For my remix project I decided to take a picture of me and my best friend Kim and remake it into something new. I used Gimp to change the hair and eyes and railing color. I lowered the intensity ofthe coloring and colored it over the area which I wanted to change. I changed my friend’s hair topurple and my hair to blue and her eyes to red and mine to dark blue. Her lips I decided to changeinto a darker red bringing them out more.
After I changed the colors I move on to writing Best Friend upon our clothing. I wanted to smearit in but it was making it hard to see. So I tried another method by changing the color of the writing but that did not work either. So I just decided to make it bold and just swop the colorsin the writing on the clothing helping it pop out more.
For the railings after changing them to brown I want to add some earthy touch to it. So noticed in the button that gave you the chose on what size you wanted for the coloring also had shapingand design choices. I started playing around and putting things on the picture until I found whatI was looking for. I put the leaves on while raising the capacity on the intensity of the picture. Then I found the fire fly of spots that are in the shape of a heart in my picture. I started swirlingit around until I was satisfied.

Manipulation exercise

After

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308705755412913666" style="DISPLAY: block; I did not realize what I was getting myself into when I clicked on it. The picture was of a close up of a girls face. I chose that one because the design of the character reminded me of Invader Zim, which is a television show for kids. When I clicked on it and I saw the picture and the title I knew that this was going to be a little weird.

When clicking begin there was a fruit all by itself on the left corner. So I clicked it and then a whole town showed up. I thought it was cool that there were so many possible things to choose from, but I didn’t like how there was no direction though. I couldn’t figure out what to push to have something happen and what I pushed made nothing happen. It was quite confusion but after a while I got the hang of it.

It began to be fun and interesting the more I played. I started realizing that there was more buttons and items to play with than I thought. It’s kind of a mystery game because you really don’t know what’s going on at all but you are enjoying it anyways. The thing that scared me though was when I clicked on the actual person and her eyes shrunk into her head. That made me exit from the game. I laughed afterwards but I would not do that one again.

Before the game starts it is a pretty nice lay out and the picture in the corner really gets you prepared for what you are in store for next. I loved how they laid out the game and I wouldn’t change it at all. Yes, I, myself would not have it be so creepy, but to compare to Invader Zim and all other kid shows like that it really isn’t that bad.

http://collection.eliterature.org/1/works/leishman__deviant_the_possession_of_christian_shaw.html

Manifesto TWO my bad...

Now the Manifesto that I wrote before turned out to be more of an essay than an actual Manifesto. I supposed that I believed for all of you who did not know much of anime or Manga needed to be told about the facts and history of it to understand my passion and love for it and maybe I just didn’t understand the assignment that well either. Anyways though I am going to redo it by not telling you about Anime and tell you why I like it so much and why I plan on doing it as a career. Now I know that some of this is still a history lesson but these things I say show how I found and fell in love with this Japanese Animation. From the very beginning I have always idolized my brother so when he introduced me into Anime I was all about it. The first Anime was Dragon Ball Z! That was the boom anime back in the day and still is! They are trying to make a live action but I know they are just going to kill it! But anyways after watching it I began drawing the characters. I was really good at coping exactly what I saw in any picture of those characters. My family put me into art classes after that and helped me improve in my drawing skills. I never became good at drawing free style but one day I drew a picture that was no bigger than my hand to the size of my body and I was five foot seven inches at the time. So I knew that if I was going to do anything with Anime I would have to find me an artist.

A couple of months later I learned about Manga’s, which are Japanese comic books, by walking into a Boarders and seeing them on the self. I don’t think I have ever been so happy in my entire life. All my favorite Anime’s at the palm of my hand to look and reference back to. I knew what a comic book was since my brother had so many but I had never seen a Japanese one before. It was first off hard for me to follow since it was made to be read back to front and right to left like how Japanese writing is like. As I began to read more and more of them I got the hang of it. The stories in those Mangas and Anime were like nothing I have ever read before. I knew that this was what I wanted to do. I wanted to write and help design Manga’s/Anime’s. In middle school I had an awesome dream that I wrote down after I woke up. When I reread what I had written I knew that this was going to be either my first fantasy book or my first Manga. When I got into College I met my friend Sarah who was exactly the person I was dreaming about to draw my Manga. She had the ability to draw like a Japanese artist and she made the characters look more realistic and not so skinny. Since then I have been working on my Mangas and trying to make them as best as I can. I continue buying other Manga’s and other Anime’s to compare myself and to get ideas from them. Not stealing them, but by looking at their works my mind begins to tick and think of new and fun ideas to use in my stories.

I dream of one day being as rich as the Harry Potter writer or to be as popular, if you know Manga/anime, as the Naruto Manga and Anime. I hope that my stories and shows will be loved by everyone because I know that because I am not Japanese that people who like reading and watching these kinds of shows and books are more hesitant to do so when it comes to an American doing it. Well I want to change all of that and I will. For my stories will be great and everyone will line up to read and watch the opening premier of them and maybe even dress up as them like they do at the conventions. The word Anime was taken from the French by the Japanese to describe all animated films. “Then, the Americans took it from the Japanese to describe the unique type of animation that comes from Japan” (Levi, 1). “In April 1977, the American television producer Sandy Frank attended the MIP-TV conference in Canne, France, an annual event that began in 1963 as an adjunct to the famous Cannes film festival” (Kelts, 11). Frank a year earlier was a former NBC staffer who had become the first television distributor to have three prime-time TV shows on the air. Some of them are, The Lone Ranger, Lassie, and The Bill Cosby Show. That year in April the Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd., run by the three Yoshida brothers from Kyoto, had come for their first international showcase. They knew that the American audience was a tough market for Japanese animation, but with their minor overseas success with Mach Go Go Go, also known as Speed Racer, they finally had a title that they thought they could sell to this new generation. The Yoshida brothers decided to show them all their newest creation called Gatchaman, drawn by Takashi Murakami.

“But when Sandy Frank, a New Yorker, encountered the sharp lines, elaborate and intricate plot twists, and evocative yet recognizable settings, he saw mythic potential” (Kelts, 11). Frank, who was a producer in the late 1970s early 80’s said, “’It was unlike anything else on American TV at the time –which of course was its problem. It was not only unproven; it was also not produced in America.’ Not to mention that Gatchaman also featured violence, blood, death, sexual innuendos, and morally questionable and sometimes visibly mortal heroes—which could all found in the more daring and sophisticated American cinema of the 1970’s, of course, but not in what mainstream Americans called cartoons (Kelts, 12). Later that year in May Frank saw the movie Star Wars and he instantly thought of Gatchaman (image 1) as its animated version of it. Frank, who was motivated by the unexpected success of Star Wars, sought Japan’s imagination by importing the anime Gatchaman to the United States. When they got it though they immediately rebranded the Japanese animation and named it Battle of the Planets.

“For Frank, a lot more than editing would be necessary to sell Americans on his foreign find. ‘I totally revisioned the whole thing,’ he says now. ‘We had the cartoons themselves and the Japanese scripts and we totally redid the whole series. We did new music, new scenes—we even invented a new character that looked like R2-D2’” (Kelts, 14). They even took out most of the violence in the film, which means all the death and blood was gone from the scene. Even though the Americans took the Japanese films and made it their own anime still thrived as the first animated TV superstar came to America, Astro Boy (image 3). Anime slowly grew greater and greater with films like Speed Racer, Dragon Ball and Inyuasha, but what really hit America hard was the hit show, Poke’mon (image 4). Poke’mon was actually directed more for kids by the Japanese animators, but another that was not meant for kids but is a massive hit in America is has Naruto. This anime was directed towards teens, but was also taken and re-mastered by the American studios and made for seven and up.
Another thing that came along with the multiple Anime Genre’s like Action, Comedy, History, and Horor was Hentai in other words Porn (image 2). Just like American porn Anime has their drawn form of it. They have all kinds and are made for adults. These are not the only mature rating Anime’s. There are also very gory Anime’s like Beserk (image 5). These movies would be compared to the rated R movies that come out today, like Saw 1-4 (image 6). So not only is anime not for children but it is a Genre with Genre’s within itself.

Manga is the Japanese term for comic book. In Japan, manga are targeted at all age groups and cover a wide range of genres. This is in contrast to Western comics which are typically based around superhero themes. Manga was also brought to America and it showed the original scripts of most Anime’s. A Comic Book is an art form that features a series of static images in fixed sequence, usually to tell a story. “Some of the earliest comic books were simply collections of comic strips that had originally been printed in newspapers, and the commercial success of these collections led to work being created specifically for the comic book form, which fostered specific conventions such as splash pages” (MediaPedia, 4). There are also Comic books like, Superman and Batman that are usually thought of as Graphic Novels. They were known as the “Long-form comic books, generally with hardcover or trade-paper binding” (Media Pedia, 4). Manga’s are like the Superman Graphic Novels, but instead they are read right to left and back to front and are drawn with a different structure style.
By looking at the definition itself it is shows that anime was originally for adults. It was taken by the animation designers in America and changed it so that children. There are exceptions, though, like Poke’mon which is an anime made for children and like South Park which is an adult cartoon made by Americans, but over all Anime was and still is created for older and mature audiences.

Thank You All,
Angela Hart <3

This is my Work Cited page for my first Blog.
